The Different Technology Process Servers Use to Find People

Process servers, like most other professionals, are now relying more on technological means in order to locate the people that they are required to serve. In addition to all of the secure servers that allow for the safe sharing of information, there are a few additional technological ways that help process servers find people. If you are involved in a court case and need to serve someone, a professional process server can help you by performing the required service and presenting you with the documentation required to satisfy your obligation to notify the other party.

  • Global Positioning Systems (GPS) - locating an address in an area that the server is unfamiliar is now a lot simpler with the help of GPS. These systems are also utilized as confirmation that the serving attempt occurred whether it was successful or not.
  • Mobile Apps - there are a number of mobile apps available that can assist process servers to find people as well as track the process in such a matter that the entire service attempt (successful and otherwise) is recorded in a such a way that it is admissible to a United States court of law.
  • Social Media - process servers typically rely on public databases that contain information on the residence or workplace of the party that they need to serve. In certain instances, the server can use other publicly available information to determine the locations and times of the person who they are serving.

Process servers perform an invaluable service for the legal industry, and these technological advancements can help make the overall process more efficient. As more technology systems emerge, the process of serving someone with a subpoena will continue to grow more streamlined and efficient. Careers in process serving are growing in popularity due to these advancements, and as the job becomes more modernized, that popularity will likely continue.
